Christian Relief Fund

In these times when our economy is not doing the greatest and our state is in a budget crisis when it comes to our education system, it was good for me to hear a message from Milton Jones, the President of the Christian Relief Fund. (<---- Click the link!) He spoke at our church last weekend as a part of the series that our regular minister is doing called, "What Jesus Hates." He told the story of Emmanuel's Kids (<---Click the link!) and how Emmanuel prayed for our economy and those of us in the US who are struggling because of it with such love, even though he was taking care of 150 AIDS orphans on his own. Milton had to tell him no to getting those kids sponsored because people were dropping their sponsorships because of the economy and they were still having to take care of those kids with no funds coming in. That broke my heart. What a selfish nation we are. There are children who are going to bed hungry, sick because of no medical care, and are uneducated because we "can't afford" an extra $35 a month to make all of those things happen for those kids. As I thought of my 3 girls and how richly blessed we are...they are never hungry, when they're sick we go to the doctor, they are receiving the best education, I couldn't help but want to help. I'm not writing this to pat myself on the back for sponsoring children, but more so to help myself remember how rich we are. Yes, our economy isn't the greatest right now, but we are still so rich! I'm so excited about "our new kids." We decided, as a family, to sponsor three kids...one for each of our girls! We are going to make it a priority to pray for Elkanah, Diana, and Samuel everyday, to be in contact with them by writing them letters, and to love them from the other side of the world. (For those of you who are skeptical, this is a legitimate organization who not only feed, clothe, and educate, but they also teach these kids about the love of Jesus...so, it's all checked out and all good.) There are plenty of kids left to be sponsored if you're heart has been pricked. Here's a little peer pressure...go do it! Come on...you know you want to! :) Even if you choose not to sponsor a child financially, please pray for those kids. Pray that some way, somehow, they'll hear about the love of Jesus. Now...to put some faces with the names. Here are our new kids...

From left to right...Elkanah, Diana, and Samuel
