Pool Time!

We headed out for our first pool trip at the end of last week!  The girls were pumped (and so was I.)  I think it was a little bright, if you can't tell by the looks on the girls faces! :)  We live at the pool during the summer, so don't be surprised if you come back and see pool pics galore. 

And what's summer without slushies (the ladies) and giant diet Dr. Peppers (me) during happy hour!  Just wouldn't be the same I tell ya.



Trouble, The Sprinkler, & Rocket Pops

P and I got home from our trip late Tuesday night, so Wednesday was completely dedicated to my little ladies.  It was so nice to just cuddle up, play games, have some water fun, and make and eat popsicles. 

 The girlies are little competitive, so we had to take a few breathers when things got a bit heated.  Trouble is aptly named.  :)

 The girls had been begging to go to the pool, but we opted for the sprinkler instead.  I just needed one day at home before heading out and about.  They seemed cool with it! :)

 Of course, the Sydster came up with the idea to put the sprinkler by the slide and make a water slide.  Genius.

 We HEART summer!

I got these cool popsicle molds from one of my sweet students at the end of the year and we have used them a ton already.  Summer=Rocker Pops!

Pirate Movie Night ~ ARRGH!

Before we left on our trip, we headed to the grand opening of the new theater that's 5 seconds from our house.  We have all been looking forward to having a movie theater that's so close to us!  The theater opended on a Friday night, but I was given tickets for the special grand opening on Wednesday night and P was given tickets for Thursday night.  We took the girls with us on Wednesday night and we got to pick any movie we wanted to see!  They chose Pirates:  Band of Misfits!  It was cute and they loved it!  They loved the free popcorn, the free cokes, and we loved just having a fun night out with them!  P and I dropped the girls off on Thursday night with my parents and we went back and saw Snow White and the Huntsman.  I'll give it 7 out of 10 stars.  Entertaining, but not awesome.  Anyway...here are a few pics from our night at the movies with the little ladies!

Cuteness, Randoms, New Hair, and Well, More Cuteness

I, of course, have to start with a little cuteness...or a lot in this case! :)

 GC found a sample tube of lipstick that Gigi gave her.  They had a fun couple of days showing off their gorgeous lips.  :)

This wouldn't really fit in the "cute" category, but I had to include it.  Love that I can be my weird self and my hubs loves me all the more for it.  Ha!

While we were gone, the girls had a "spa day" with Gigi.  Gigi did their nails, gave them facials, did their hair, etc.  After they got their spa treatments, they decided that they wanted to give Gigi spa treatments.  Sydney put make-up on her, Molly gave her a "facial", and GC did the mani/pedi.  When my mom put her feet up for GC to paint her toes, Gracie Claire said, "Gigi!  You need to take your feet to CareNow!"  LOL!  I am not a foot person.  Feet gross me out, so I loved this story so much!  My mom caught this pic of Gracie Claire's reaction to her feet!  Love it!

I've woken up lots of mornings to this.  Oh, how I love summer!  :)

A new favorite of my 2 littlest girlies and me.  Love them!

If you've know me for long, at all, you know that I've had a fairly short haircut and highlights for years.  Anytime I attempt something different, I go right back to what I know fairly quickly.  Well, the last year and a half I've been growing my hair out and in November, I colored my hair to a close version of my natural hair color.  I loved the color (until it started to fade), but I hated my bangs.  I kept the dark hair for a while and decided, after school got out, that I needed to go back to my old familiar.  My hair girl (Lori) is awesome.  Thankful she always accepts me back...even when I don't visit her for months at a time. 

This was right after the dark color and bangs.  Loved my color, but bangs aren't for me.  I told Lori to never, ever let me cut bangs again. 

A more recent version.  I haven't had my hair this long in years.

Santa Fe - Days 4&5!

While we're waiting to get on our delayed flight (grrr...) I thought I'd blog about our last two days in Santa Fe. This will be quick. P was in a conference for the majority of both of these days, so I watched lots of TV and read by the pool. I'm not much of a "go out and explore more of the strange town by myself" kind of girl. So...


I went to The Green Owl, the little coffee shop at our hotel, got coffee and a yummy pastry and took self-portraits (of course)...


went to the pool, read my book, and watched a lady cover herself with towels and sleep for a couple of hours...


ate a really overpriced sandwich and waited for P to get finished. We ate at The Pink Adobe again for dinner (I forgot to take pics) and sat and talked for as long as we wanted! It was a good day.


On the way back from our dinner, we saw this little sticker of Andre the Giant stuck to a random light pole. I love him in The Princess Bride. ;) Random girl!

Today went about the same. I went out and bought the girls a little souvenir and got Subway for lunch. I am so done with days by myself! I was so thankful when P finished with his conference. We headed to the tiniest airport (& have been here for over two hours) and I got a picture with my school shirt on for the beginning of the year. (They want us to take a picture from our traveling this summer for a fun thing they're doing at the start of the new school year.)


We ate some more junk while we waited (back to the healthy eating starting tomorrow!) and we waited some more. They just announced our plane is here (hallelujah!) and I can't wait to get home to my girls! I have completely loved this time with my amazing hubs! Thanks, babe, for planning this little getaway! Can't wait for our family vacation in July!!!

Santa Fe - Day 3!

Sunday was a little more of a relaxed day. We didn't have many plans since we'd done almost everything we could in the area without renting a car. So, we slept in a little and went down and had brunch.


I had tortilla soup...yummy, but not awesome. We've eaten every meal on a patio. The weather has been perfect. We ate right next to the little chapel. Loved the view.

After brunch we decided to go for a little hike. Our tour guide mentioned it on our city tour and said it was a great way to see a different view of the city and great mountain views. Score! How awesome is it that we can go from flat, city views in Texas to mountain views just one state over. Again, God is so cool.

Loved our mountain time. After our trek back down, we walked around more shops, ate more chocolate, and did more people watching. Then we headed back to our room to watch a movie. Obviously, P was way more into the movie than I was. Gotta do something to entertain yourself, right? :)


Ha! Love the looks on Paul's face! After the movie, we went and had dinner. Not our best eating day. It was at a place called Del Charro. Good prices, but just OK food. I had frito pie.


P is at a conference this morning, so I'm going to have to keep myself busy. Maybe pool, maybe movie, hmmmm. Missing my girlies. Can't wait to kiss their sweet faces tomorrow night!

Santa Fe - Day 2!

Our 2nd day in Santa Fe was just as fun as the first. We slept in a little, got coffee and muffins at the little coffee shop downstairs, then headed out on a city tour!


We rode on this open bus thing and saw lots more of the city than we would've if we didn't take the tour. The man in the hat was our tour guide. He was French and knew tons of history. He rocked.


Guess what? We got to see another historical church! This one wasn't as old. It was called The Cristo Rey Church. The big thing in the front of the sanctuary is carved from lava rock. Really beautiful!


We finally got to see some mountains. Love me some mountains...and statues of Saratoga wagons. ;)


After our city tour, we went and had lunch. I had a Torta de Puerco (yum), side salad, and sopapillas. The pork sandwich was delish!


After lunch we went to Señor Murphy's...a candy shop that is famous for their chocolates. Santa Fe has piñons, a native nut, used in lots of their cooking. It's like a pine nut, but not. Anyway, we tried the piñon chocolate sampler. It was delish.


After our yummy sweet treat, we headed to the New Mexico Museum of Art. Lots of different genres were shown...contemporary, modern, Native American art, art by Georgia O'Keefe. It was a great collection.


I loved the leaf. I know it's just a leaf, but the colors she used and the brushstrokes were so pretty. I'd hang it in my house. Love it.


We got to add our own art to the chalk art wall. I drew the seahorse and eel and P added the shark. That's how we ended our walk through the art museum.


My favorite part of the day was spent at the New Mexico History Museum. It was so interesting to learn the history of the state. I love, love seeing historical artifacts, reading the history, and thinking about how far our country has come. I know, I know. Art + History = Nerd Alert! I admit it. We love learning. It's fun to be nerdy! ;) See evidence below...


After spending a couple of hours at the history museum, we tried going to see the oldest church in America (yes, another church) but, it had already closed. Boo. So, we looked around for where we'd eat dinner and found this place...


Ummm...stinkin' awesome! We'll eat here again before we leave.


I had a shrimp stuffed avocado and we shared the trio of yumminess! Some of the BEST guacamole, salsa, and queso we've ever had. Can't wait to go back!


After dinner, we headed back to our hotel (that's it above) and lounged by the pool for a while. The weather here is so pretty. We're definitely not missing the humidity and 100 degree heat at home.


Great second day!! Oh how I miss my little ladies, but am loving the time I'm getting with my hubs. Love him!
